My name is Andrea and I'm a recovering Chocoholic
For those of you who know me well, you'll know that I've been battling a chocolate addiction for quite some time. In fact, it's been going on for about a year. I'd been a chocoholic years ago, but finally got 'clean' as I turned 40.
I remained 'clean' for about two and half years. Then one day, having run out of Raw Chocolate Powder - a substance so pure and delicious that there's simply no comparison to the conventional 'poo-in-a-packet', as my Trainers Missis describes it - I resorted to using some cocoa powder that was left over from making sweets for some non-raw friends one time. And that was it, I was back on it, and hooked.
The next time I entered the supermarket I was like a woman possessed. My inner chocolate radar honing into the confectionery aisle like a guided missile. I had a clear mission. I was not a woman to be messed with. I piled the slabs of G&B's into my basket and headed for the checkout. Checking carefully to ensure that I hadn't been spotted by anyone I knew, worst of all... my Trainer!
The desire for chocolate was greater than the actual 'fix' itself, but it didn't stop me. I continued to munch my way through anywhere from three to six slabs of G&B's a day!
Finally, at the beginning of this year I got honest with myself and acknowledged that I had a problem. It was then time to 'fess up to my mates...who'd only slightly noticed my little problem. I think that was partly due to the fact that I had become just-ever-so-slightly-cuddlier than I had been before my addiction.
So, last week I visited my very lovely friend Sarah. Who just happens to be a hypnotherapist. And boy is she bloody good. I have no idea what she said to my sub-concious whilst I was in my very deep transe. All I know is that life right now is extremely peaceful, and I have no desire for the brown stuff...and that feels good. She explained to me afterward that her work was not to stop me eating chocolate, but to put me back in control to make better and healthier choices.
